This is a service based product, for the machining of an optic footprint onto a 70-series 1911 pistol slide that you provide. 

  • This is for 70-series 1911’s – or any 1911 that does not have a firing pin block.
  • *It is your responsibility to confirm that your slide can accept the footprint that you select – We will do our best to assist you with this if you reach out to us via the contact form.  Please include photos and name / model of your firearm so we can accurately identify it.  If you send us a slide that cannot be machined for the footprint you selected without contacting us first, then you will be responsible for the return shipping and a 5% fee to cover our CC Processing Fees.  If we make a mistake and cannot cut your slide, it will ship back for free and no fees will be charged.

IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU READ THIS INFORMATION:

Optic Footprint Selection:

We offer two options for screw-mounted optics:  Precision Fit and Universal Fit.  Screw mounted optics are those using the RMR, RMSc and Deltapoint Pro footprints.  This carries over to optics like SRO, RCR, 407K, 507K, EPS, EPS Carry, Defender, Defender CCW, O-Sight K, OSight C, OSight K, OSight SE, EoTech EFLX, and others.

  • Precision Fit:  The footprint is precision machined to the dimensions of the optic you provide – or purchase from us. We do not incorporate recoil lugs for this as they are unnecessary due to the entirety of the optic body being cradled by the footprint. This will be an exact, very tight fit, and is the superior optic cut solution for performance and reliability.  For this, the optic MUST be present.  If this option is chosen and the optic is not provided, or purchased from us, we machine to manufacturer dimensions.
  • Universal Fit:  These cuts are machined WITH recoil lugs.  The majority of the retention takes place between the lugs and the front fence of the footprint.  Depending on the optic, there may be gaps between the front and/or rear fences of the footprint.  This is the most common way of machining optic cuts.

Your responsibilities for shipping us the slide:

  1. We recommend using PirateShip.com or Stamps.com to ship to us – It will save you money as they have discounted USPS & UPS Rates.  Our shipping address will be at the bottom of the receipt that is emailed to you, and can also be found on the Contact Us Page.
  2. Please clean your slide of any debris, carbon, or oil.  We do not place dirty or lubed slides inside of our machines as it contaminates the CNC Coolant used in the machining process.  If your slide is dirty, there will be a $20 surcharge for cleaning which will need to be paid prior to your slide shipping back to you. We don’t expect to be able to eat off it… But you get the idea, right?
  3. Include identifying information inside your shipped package – If you don’t have access to a printer;  A handwritten, legible note with your Name and Order Number will suffice.  This is imperative to processing orders in a swift and accurate manner. Failure to do so may result in a delay.
  4. If you already have your Optic, include it in your shipment and we will mount it on your slide for free.
  5. Do NOT send us your Frame.  We only need the Slide, and The Slide Cutter hates doing paperwork.
  6. If you want to, you can send us your slide completely or partially stripped – it helps us.
  7. If you send The Slide Cutter stickers or patches, he will tag you in our Instagram – Don’t forget to send your IG@

Turnaround Breakdown:

  • Days = Monday – Friday, as we are closed on the weekends.
  • Day 1 starts the day after we receive your slide.
  • +X number of days = The base 3 day turnaround +(plus) the “X” amount of days
  • Optic cut with blued / uncoated cut is a 3 day turnaround
  • Optic cut with QPQ Black Nitride is +5 days
  • Optic cut with Cerakote is +2 days
  • Optic cut with DLC Black is +14 days minimum
  • Optic cut with any PVD is +21 days minimum
  • *We are closed all Federal Holidays, and Major State Holidays.
  • *These are estimated target times and are not guaranteed. We cannot control UPS Ground shipment times, unusually high work volume, or the future.  We feel our target times are an accurate estimation for completion and strive to hit the mark every time.

Coatings Explained:

  • QPQ Black Nitride Coating is included with our Optic Cut service at no additional cost.  If you want your slide to be Black and look “Factory”, this is our recommendation.  It is the same coating that is on the majority of AR15 BCG’s.  This is completed by an industry partner, which is one of the top Nitride companies in the United States.  They are ISO 9001 certified and have been operational for decades.
  • DLC Black or, Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) Coating delivers exceptional surface performance—combining extreme hardness, ultra-low friction, and outstanding resistance to wear and corrosion.  This service is performed by a premier, internationally recognized provider with more than 65 years of engineering expertise and over 40 years dedicated specifically to advanced coating technologies.
  • PVD; TiN, AlTiN, AlCrN, TiAlCN, and ZrN coatings are a high-performance surface treatment that bonds ultra-thin, durable material layers directly to metal substrates in a vacuum environment. It significantly increases surface hardness, wear resistance, and corrosion protection while also improving lubricity and reducing friction. This service is provided by the same company as DLC. (We will be adding this option to the site very soon)
  • Cerakote is optional and comes with an additional fee. Your entire slide will be Cerakoted. Custom colors may be available upon request.
  • Bluing is nothing special.  This is a liquid surface application that anyone could do at home.  On Stainless Steel slides; Bluing is not possible to apply due to their metallurgical properties.

Iron Sights:

We offer Iron Sights from Night Fision and Angry Bear Arms, with more to follow.  We utilize slightly different sight heights (+/- 0.015″) depending on the optic cut of choose, so they perfectly co-witness through your glass while keeping visibility obstruction at an absolute minimum. The sight picture of your Irons will just barely protrude above the main body of your optic.

Rear Iron Sight Re-Location:

Certain Optic Footprint / Slide combinations (Like the Deltapoint Pro on a Glock 19/17) require the absorption of the factory rear dovetail.  In this case, you have the option to have a new dovetail machined in front of the factory sight.  We machine Glock-Style dovetails and have cross-brand sight pairs for these situations for select makes and models.  Outside of this necessity, we do not encourage the service.  The idea behind this being done is so you don’t run the ‘risk’ of losing your red dot behind your rear sight.  If you are concerned with losing your red dot at the absolute base of your optic window, behind one of the 0.105″ ears of your rear sight, then relocating the rear sight is for you.  Rear sight relocation is a $25 charge.

Optics:

Mounting is free with our slide cuts, regardless of if you ship yours to us, or buy it from us. We have the lowest optic prices on the internet – Yes, you have to ‘add to cart’ to see price. This is because of a little thing called “MAP”, which stands for Minimum Advertised Price. This is set by the Manufacturer to maintain marketplace integrity.  If you violate that, they violate you, and The Slide Cutter doesn’t want to be violated by anyone other than Mrs. Slide Cutter.

Shipping back to you:

We ship exclusively with UPS.  In checkout, you are welcome to purchase shipping insurance – we recommend that you do, as we are not responsible for packages once they leave our hands.  If you do insure your package and it is lost or stolen, you will need to file a claim with UPS as we have no control over shipments once they leave our possession.
